This guide shows you how to create an iTunes account without the need of a credit card. Why would you want to do this?

• You are 18 or younger and don’t have a credit card.
• You don’t plan on buying anything from iTunes Store but would like to download the free stuffs such as music and or some of the App store’s free iPhone apps.
• You want to download album arts via iTunes.
• You live in an area where the iTunes Store is not yet available.

If you’ve tried to create an account on the iTunes Store, you’ll realize that credit card information and billing address are required. However, there’s a way to circumvent this. The iTunes Store has a Gift Certificate Redeem feature which allows you to redeem a Gift Certificate you bought at a store or given to you somehow. There are lots of websites online that offers iTunes Store Redeem codes in exchange for user registration. However, the website Tunecore is even better in that you can get a redeem code without doing anything. So, follow the steps below to create your iTunes Store account without providing a credit card:

1. Head over to Tunecore and click on the “Click here for code” button to get your free iTunes Store redeem code.

2. Copy the code to clipboard.

3. Load up iTunes Store and scroll down to the bottom of the page. Make sure you’ve selected the United States iTunes Store. The redeem code from the website above will only work with the US version of the iTunes Store.

4. Scroll back to the top and click on the “Redeem” link on the right-hand side of the store as shown below.

5. Paste the code you’ve copied on the 1st step to the text-box and click on the “Redeem” button.

6. Next, you’ll be prompted to login with your account. Since you don’t have one yet, select the “Create Account” option.

7. Following the onscreen instruction by clicking on “Continue” and later on accepting the “Terms of Service”.

8. After accepting the “Terms of Service”, you’ll be able to create your iTunes Store account. You’ll have to complete the form with your email, password, a security questions and your birthday. Press the “Continue” button to proceed.

9. Finally, you’ll the prompted for the address information and payment method. For the billing address, you can provide a real one or fake one, it doesn’t matter.

10. On the bottom of the page, select “none” as the payment method and click on “Continue”.

11. Congratulations, you’ve successfully created an iTunes Store account without requiring a credit card.

Well, that’s about it. Pretty easy, huh? One point to keep in mind is that the “Tunecore: 34 Stars” promotional event ends on September 30th, 2008, and so will the redeem code be valid until then. After the deadline, you’ll have to find another valid redeem code to create an iTunes Store account if you haven’t done so.
